All Treacy Lowe designs begin with the fabric - that was essential to her design process and it shows. She used the lightest, finest, tissue silks and chiffons that you could possibly use before you have nothing in your hands at all. It means that a dress like this weighs a few ounces and feels like air wafting around you when you have it on. I love the way that thatched elastic has been made a part of the design - a thick band of it circles the lower waist and wraps around the upper hip for shape and definition. It is picked up again above each cuff. The skirt flows out from under the detailing at the waist line in yards and yards of silk that drape to the ground. It has a tie belt that I have used in the photos for extra shape but you could leave it more loose and easy as well. The sleeves are left unlined and billow above the elastic detailing and ruffle at the cuff. I love the gypsy influenced neckline with its tie and keyhole. The print is hand screened and the silk the finest Indian silk you could get at that time. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Fully line in a tissue silk hand dyed to match the exterior. The sleeves are left unlined. Closes with a back painted metal zipper and has hook & eye at the waist to hide the zipper.
